Media Dispositifs of Comparison: Harun Farocki's comparative practices in the context of media history

The subproject raises the question of media conditions on comparative practices. It asks in which way mediums like photography, film, video, and digital image processing have made possible new dispositifs of comparison and thereby have contributed to historical change.

Using the work of Harun Farocki which not only used comparative methods but reflected – by using comparative dispositions – on dispositifs of comparison. Thus, the practical theoretical orientation of the SFB could be complemented by a media theoretical and media historical perspective.
